Meaning of Tasa Therapy
Tasa Therapy (pronounced: ‘Tah-Sah’ Therapy) was created from 'Taza' in Spanish and 'Tasa' in Filipino, both meaning 'Cup.' The name and logo encapsulates the practice of sharing life stories, struggles, and moments of joy over a cup of coffee or tea in our world today. A thoughtful homage to this tradition.

A bit about myself
I come from a unique cultural background, being both half Salvadorian and half Filipino and a first-generation child of immigrant parents. These diverse cultural influences have significantly shaped my personal identity and professional development. This journey of straddling multiple cultures has taught me the richness of our intersectional identities; we each engage with the world through a complex web of experiences.

I understand that embodying the ways we prefer to be can be challenging, and this is where counseling comes in. It serves as a collaborative and supportive space to help individuals navigate these complexities and learn to live in their preferred ways.

My commitment as a therapist is to blend my professional expertise with a deep appreciation for the nuances of identity and culture. Together, we can explore your unique path towards personal growth and fulfillment.

Informed by post-structural theories, my Narrative Therapy approach is a collaborative, person-centered journey that deeply values your unique life experiences and cultural influences. Together, we’ll shine a spotlight on your existing strengths while weaving compassion, mindfulness, and intentionality into our work. My goal is to empower you to construct narratives about your life that resonate with your preferences.

In our sessions, we’ll explore a diverse toolbox of interventions and practices tailored to your individual needs. Expect a fusion of narrative therapy, cognitive-behavioral interventions (CBT), mindfulness and meditative/grounding techniques, psychodynamic insights (tell me about your childhood type of questions), EMDR for trauma and complex childhood trauma reprocessing (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, if needed), and solution-focused therapies to illuminate your path to well-being. I’m well-equipped to support you in various aspects of your life.

My specialties include:

  • Narratives of agency amidst experiences of depression, anxiety

  • Creating relapse prevention plans to treat substance use/misuse

  • Meditation and mindfulness practicing

  • LGBTQ+ lived experiences

  • Multicultural identities & cultural humility

  • Assisting in the reprocessing of traumatic experiences

Together, we’ll embark on a journey towards healing, self-discovery, and empowerment.
